ASRock P67 Extreme6 Solid Full Featured Board
By Christopher Bellevue
PROS:Same architecture as the more expensive P67 Fatality Pro without the Fatility Pro branding or the ide and specialized mouse ports. Lots of features, lots of sata and usb ports, lots of cpu fans ports, and is a great overclocker (booted up the first time and easily overclocked my i5 to 4.8ghz first shot) Hot swapping hard drive does work in AHCI on both sata controllers! I was also able to use standard GSKILL DDR3 1600 RAM Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL that was not on the ASRock approved compatibility list without issue. Last but not least this board is HACKINTOSH compatible.CONS: (I wouldn't consider these cons but rather things to take note of)First, the placement of the top pcie port being close to the heat sink. If more room is needed simply remove the top cover of the heatsink.Second, not all USB 3.0 ports can be used at the same time; you can physically have 6 USB 3.0 ports connected (4 rear/2 front) however when using the 2 front USB 3.0 ports connected to the pin header on the motherboard will disable 2 of USB 3.0 ports on the rear. I think this limitation is due to the USB controller only being able to run only four of the USB3 ports at a time. I think its the same scenario when using the ESATA port as well as this port is being shared by the SATA controller it's tied to (the user manual has further details on this)Third, some reviews have mentioned that driver support is lacking from ASRock (which I agree) however I never expect drivers from the OEM companies to be constantly updated. For this reason I get updated drivers directly from the chipset manufacturers (Intel, Jtron, Realtek, Marvell, Nvidia, etc) so the complaint above is a moot point. Finally this board is not a PCI Express Gen3 board, and again I think this is another moot point as graphics cards have yet to saturate the previous PCI Express 2.0 bus spec. (I think were still a good while away before that happens but eventually the day will come when dual-triple-quad graphics setups will saturate the 2.0 bus)This might be a CON: Tested a regular pci video card VisonTek X1550 and couldnt get the board to boot up with it. However I did verify that both pci slots work by testing with my Creative X-fi pci sound card.OTHER THOUGHTS:Also reading several reviews from several different websites and I've come to the conclusion that the Quality Control on this board is spotty; some users have a great experience and others DOA horror stories or some other issue. Comparing the reviews against other similar boards from other brands seemed to show fewer DOA issues however anything can happen with any brand at any time. My previous 2 boards have been Gigabytes which have been great for me but considering everything I decided to take a chance on this board and everything is working great so far. This board has a solid feature set and if you can get it at a great price then its a super value. Based on my personal experience with it, I highly recommend it!

Does the job
By Sussman Pro
Overall a good stable motherboard, that said anyone can at times get a duff board, and that can apply for any branded Motherboards out there.I really liked the in built diagnostic code de-bug display, it really helps when putting the PC together and for those who wish to over clock their system this tool will help . I guess you can get a third party tester. However, its nice to know it is there and saves time and hassle. The board has a generous number of fan headers, which is always helpful to have. All in all a good buy. I would give this product a 4.5 rating but the option is not there. The CMOS on and off switch is always helpful, some boards do not have these and if the board freezes it means a lot more hassle.
