5Intel X79 LGA2011 Motherboard
By Stan
I have used Intel boards since the SE440BX P2 400 days. I paired the DX79SR with a 3930K and a Corsair H70 water cooling unit. I am currently OC'd to 4.0 which was simple to do via the bios. The bios was simple and straight forward. This is the nicest of the Intel boards that I have ever owned. Intel has gotten alot better. The layout and number of USB ports is very convenient. The board comes with bluetooth and wireless N unit via one of the onboard USB ports. As an enthusiast, I am not at all disappointed by this board. I chose this over the Asus X79 Workstation board. HardOCP did a review of the DX79SI board which is similar to this board-[...]

5The Intel DX79SR is the best X79 platform on the market.
By George
Intel DX79SRThis board comes with a whole sheet of stickers and a blue skull mouse pad! It also has a cool skull featured on the SouthBridge and bonus temperature probes. The SATA ports are fully RAID capable and a nice combination of X79 & Marvell. The USB ports are also plentiful. The Quad channel memory support is flawless. This board is solid. It's really not light on features at all and demonstrates a sweet balance of treats and tricks. Perhaps it won't go to 5.7 Ghz. overclock..but if you are one of those people that do overclock a bit and expect some stability this board gives the most stable voltage control of any X79 motherboard. For the past few weeks I've been really excited in tracking down a set of pins to poke an i7 3930K into. This one did the trick nicely. I've got it set cozy next to some Corsair Dominator 2133.In reviewing some of the other posts here, specifically with reference to the C2 stepping issue, I didn't run into any problems. My processor is the 3730K and it has C2 Stepping (I got the SPROKY). The bios revision that came on my board from this seller was dated 4/27/2012. The most current bios from Intel's website (as of today) is dated 10/27/2012, which I installed shortly after setup. Neither bios revision gave me any issues whatsoever. Mine worked perfectly. If you have a previous revision of the CPU, say with the C1 stepping, you are pretty much set for success on the DX79SR.I did try an MSI GD45 board with this processor with no luck. At the top end of building an Intel computer you really just need to stay away from every other motherboard manufacturer except for Intel. I have trusted MSI for years to give suitable performance but they really seem weak on the X79 front. I've also read random reviews from fellow enthusiasts who were failed by every other manufacturer of the X79 boards. After having read the reviews here on Amazon about this board and people having issues with the C2 stepping, and knowing this was my C2 chip in question, I really sought hard to find a different board that was suitable with no luck. Many people seem pleased with the ASUS Sabertooth but I'm very glad I didn't go that direction (for starters I'm not a big fan of ASUS customer service). So the other day I made the order for my Intel DX79SR board and called friends asking them if they had a chip handy in case I needed to flash my bios! If worst had come to worst - sending this board back to Intel for an RMA on a bios flash would have been a suitable outcome. After all, I have top end processor, why put it on a POS board. Thankfully, none of these concerns precipitated into real event obstacles. The board is rather perfect. I might have designed it with a bit different spacing on the PCIe slots, but what is there gets the job done.Going back to the Bios concerns, troubleshooting non-post problems can be a bit of a hassle, and anyone that has run into this on any motherboard I recommend making sure that they hold the power button for ten seconds while the PSU is off and also clear at the CMOS memory. And I'd also like to suggest that rather than swapping in a different CPU in effort to flash the bios, try another video adapter before you go that route. In case you are wondering, for video I'm using 560 Ti SLI.Anyways, I like the features of this board and the chip. I like the way it makes my processor feel love and at home with family. And it's comforting to know that I didn't spend my cash on something that is anything less than rock solid. If there is a shelf above top shelf in the computer world, as of today, this board with a processor that fits on it - is that shelf that is so far above the others few people ever even see it.

4Full of features - RAID didn't work
By Jon S. Akhtar
Great feature set. I love genuine Intel boards because they are generally very stable, and are supported for a very long time. This board was not stable trying to run 2 SSD's on the Sata 6 ports in Raid 0 using the Intel ROM. The machine simply would not start many times. Switching to non-raid - the system is stable. I love the fan controls built into the system - but you should go through them and adjust the temperature targets because I feel they are WAY to high. That said - the fans I have attached run silent, and I am using the Intel watercooling solution as well with a gen 2 hexacore. All in all I am happy. There are plenty of overclocking options - which is pretty impressive for an Intel board, and I love the back to bios button. Especially once you enable fast boot which disables the keyboard during the boot sequence.Make sure to download and read the documentation on not only the board - but the CHIPSET. The chipset documentation explains what many of the BIOS settings do.
