The ASUS C60M1-I mini iTX motherboard features the latest AMD Dual-Core Processor C-60 with AMD Radeon HD 6290 Discrete-Class Graphics supporting DirectX 11 and full HD 1080p playback. This thing is truly amazing! It has a total of 12 USB ports if you use optional brackets to hook up the onboard headers as I plan to. It has 6 SATA ports. The BIOS is very easy to work with. It accepts 8 Gigs of RAM vs the 4 Gigs that an Atom based board will accept. And the C-60 CPU is much more powerful than an Atom. But I knew that before I bought it. I have a netbook and a notebook that use this chip and I have been very happy with their performance. True, they are dog slow on transcoding. But I can do that with the big boys. This motherboard cries out to be a NAS server. Thats what I bought it for. Downloaded FreeNAS from SourceForge and followed the article in the November issue of Maximum PC. I'm even planning to use a USB flash drive for the operating system as described in that article. But meanwhile I loaded it with linux just to test it out. It passed all my tests. The CPU has a very large heat sink installed. It still gest a bit warm. It gets up to 42-43 celsius. But I already have plans to install an 80 mm fan on it. That should bring it down to what I like. Its probably ok as it is, but I like to tweak things.I am extremely pleased with this product!It took me 15 minutes from when it arrived until when I turned it on. But I mounted it in a Mini ATX case instead of an ITX case since I plan to install six hard drives.Important note. Read the manual for a list of compatible memory. I know some people have experienced problems. I just happened to have some compatible memory lying around when the motherboard arrived.

Inexpensive, but not cheap. I'm using this to power my NAS and I'm very happy with it.This board provides almost everything I could ask for in a NAS board. Really, the only thing it is missing is ECC support, and I wish it supported more RAM. Neither of which are particularly trivial, but I was willing to sacrifice these for a relatively inexpensive, quiet, low-power system.I didn't buy this board to be *fast*, I bought it for lower power consumption and moderate IO throughput. This board with 4 hard drives and an SSD consumes only 60W of power. Also, while it is not *fast*, it is fast enough for running FreeBSD with ZFS and running Samba/NFS that I suspect it probably bottlenecks on my network, not on the hardware (although I haven't tested this). In fact, I found this board fast enough to also run a MythTV backend and a Mumble server.

I have been using it for NAS at home for about a month. I am very satisfied with it so far.As others already pointed out, it is compatible with 16GB of RAM even when manual says 8GB is the maximum.
