Top notch
By John Doe
This is a fantastic motherboard and highly recommended for anyone building a high-end system. It has a number of great features:* UEFI BIOS is super easy to use.* Great software for editing BIOS settings from the desktop, and overclocking on the fly from the desktop.* BIOS switch in case you mess up your main one. This falls back to a recovery BIOS.* Automatic overclocking by turning on a switch on the motherboard (OC Genie II). To give a sense of how well this works, it overclocked my 3.5 ghz 3770k to 4.2ghz automatically with this on. You can get higher overclocks by hand but the automatic OC stays within a definite safe range. It also overclocks your RAM and the integrated GPU.* TPM module support. As I work as a software engineer specializing in information security this is a big bonus for me. No TPM is included but you can get one from MSI. This enables high end cryptographic functions, as well as features like BitLocker in Windows. (I use the TPM and it works well).* Virtu MVP, for great gaming performance and to enable you to take advantage of the full functionality of both your discrete and integrated graphics.* No Thunderbolt port. Yeah, this is a feature. Thunderbolt is a security risk since it allows DMA. Don't waste money getting the GD80 since the only difference is it adds the bug of a Thunderbolt port. (While you are at it, if you care about security, disable the IEEE1394 port in the BIOS).The only negatives I can think of:* No reason to not include a TPM out of the box. But I guess I can't blame them too much, most of their competition doesn't support this at all.* As other reviewers have noted, there are stickers all over the board when you first take it out of the box. I didn't have a problem with residue, since the other reviews made me aware of the need for caution there ahead of time (thanks guys). I very slowly removed the stickers and there was no residue. If you remove the stickers slowly you will be fine.* Also as noted by another reviewer, the RAM slots are close to the CPU. I used a very large cooler (Noctua NH-D14 -- a real monster) and my first RAM had unnecessary large heat fins that blocked it. Swapped them out for Kingston Hyper-X and it fit nicely, but without a lot of space. Be aware if you have a large cooler, don't get memory with a large profile heatsink on it.As noted above, I recommend this highly over the higher-end GD80. This costs less, and the only differences are that the GD80 replaces the integrated GPU's DVI port with a DIsplayPort (you probably won't care) and that the GD80 adds a Thunderbolt port (as noted above, if you care about security, this is a bug rather than a feature).Overall, top notch. Having built many machines over many years, this motherboard worked more smoothly than just about any, and definitely has a richer feature set. A great price for what you get.

Great MoBo - UPDATE
By Josh Bell
Has everything you could really need in a Z77 Motherboard- PCI-E 3.0, USB 3.0, SATA 6GB/s. The OC Genie II feature seems to work, though CPU-Z is telling me it holds at the highest clock rate, which I can't imagine is very efficient. I have an i5-3570k, cooled by a Hyper 212 Evo. Speaking of which, the cooler DOES cover the memory slots a bit, but if you buy shorter sticks of memory it won't cause you many problems. I got some Kingston Hyper-X's that fit nicely. The UEFI Bios is a pretty neat feature, too, and is my first time experiencing one. Very organized, sleek and informative. Plus, if you bork up an overclock and can't boot, there's a small switch near the edge of the board that allows you to switch to another, default, Bios. Saved me some trouble already (I'm not a smart man... =P).The only negative, thus far, were the stickers they put directly on the board. Upon removal, the one above the CPU slot tore off the protective cover, and the one above the PCI-E 3.0 slot left residue I couldn't remove. Just kind've annoying, I guess. Not enough to knock off a star by any means. If you buy this, you won't be disappointed.UPDATE - Unfortunately I may have spoken too soon. I've already had to RMA the board once, because at some point the USB controller apparently shorted. I first noticed because the mouse stopped moving (I was web browsing, of all things. Facebook.) and the USB disconnect sound played. Then I smelled burning. After turning it off and checking things out, I didn't find any signs of damage on anything, so I turned it back on to find that only one of the USB ports, specifically one on the front of my case, worked. So, switching between keyboard and mouse I tried to find some answers, but none came and I attempted to clear CMOS and see if that helped. Suddenly, the board wouldn't even POST. The RMA took weeks, leaving me unable to both be productive and have some fun at home during the summer. And guess what? It just happened again. Same scenario, everything. If I don't get some kind of free replacement, a discounted upgrade, or a refund, I'm just going to buy a MoBo from another manufacturer and keep away from MSI products. The board would be great- if I didn't have to pay basically $35 a month to get it fixed and if I could have it more than 50% of the time. It's not as if anything on the board was overheating, I don't have any viruses of any kind, and so-on. I can't perceive a cause other than faulty equipment.

My best motherboard ever!I5-3570K@3.40, 16GB, HD Graphics 4000, MSI Z77A-GD65, Crucial M4 128GB (Partitioned 20GB for XP - 100GB for W7)Plus some 2TB data drives. My Windows7 Experience Index:CPU RAM Aero 3D HD/SSD7.6 7.6 6.6 6.6 7.9STOCK - NO overclock, NO discrete graphics, NO problem. (except for USB 3.0 header vs. my CoolerMaster Storm case.)I planed to install a discrete video board as soon as I need it.My GT 240 (GDDR5) was more than adequate in my older Phenom II X4 system. It only scores a 6.8 6.8!I do not think I will need a discrete video board.Highly recommended.
