I love the flexibility of this motherboard. I was able to use my I7-2700K processor with the ability to upgrade to newer processors later on. I came from a previous ASUS MB and I think I've become a fan of theirs since I've had very little problems with them.There are three reasons for 4 stars instead of 5 stars:1) The first board I ordered came with bent CPU socket pins.2) The ASUS SSD Caching II is not all that it's cracked up to be.3) The Wi-Fi Go! module must be installed prior to putting the motherboard into the case. I missed that and had to take it out again to install the module.It's a good thing I ordered from Amazon because most other places would give you a very hard time exchanging it for bent pins because they consider that user damage. Since I didn't damage it, ASUS would still have charged me about $120 to repair and for the money I don't think I would have wanted to or should have to fight that battle. I've been putting together my own computers for almost 20 years and have never run into that problem before.The second board I received worked flawlessly with Windows 7 Ultimate and I also added the Corsair Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CWCH100) and Corsair CMXAF2 Dominator Triple Channel Airflow Memory Fan products to keep everything nice and cool.The SSD Caching does not seem to work. I have two solid state drives and the board comes with a 32GB solid state drive (upgradeable, which is a plus). The software only saw my two SSDs and not the on-board one even though Windows 7 saw it as a physical drive. So I can use it as a temp drive, but I doubt I would want to install the OS on such a small drive. Maybe later I will upgrade the SSD to something bigger.Since this is my first Thunderbolt enabled board, I have no experience in that area but I am going to try the display port capabilities tonight. This feature allows you to use VirtuMVP to utilize your own dedicated video cards but put the output signal through the Thunderbolt interface. It will be cool if it works ;-)My previous motherboard only had one LAN port but the one before that had two and I missed that feature. This board contains two and they work great. The Wi-Fi Go! also works well and has external Antennas.All together, I'd have to say the motherboard was worth it. The capability to handle 2nd generation and 3rd generation CPUs is great and allows me to upgrade at my pace without having to purchase yet another motherboard in the future.

Update: I added pictures to the top of the page were it allows you to.I want to start this off by saying Asus has horrible support and if you do have a problem expect them to say send the board in. Thats for any problem.I do think Asus offers the best online coverage of all your software,drivers,updates and the best overclocking experience.You do pay for it but Asus makes the best mbs there is.This mb is great and for someone like me that wants everything,it's a dream board.Before my very eyes I watched this mb auto overcloc kmy I7 3770k to 4944mhz stable.Then I put my air conditioning vent on the rads and watched this mb clock my cpu to 5156mhz. Stable but hits 90c at room temps. ( No good for me )Ran lots of performance tests @ 5200mhz and a Passmark cpu score of 14875.3 Thats Intel $1500 proccessor speeds3dMark,3Dmar11,3Dmark Vantage,Kombuster,furmark,Heavem Dx11 etc. It passed them all @5200mhzThe Icontrol network thing slowed my connection down and now doesnt work.Im not sure if its becuase of something I installed. The wireless still runs @ 300mbps. Was told send the mb in by Asus. But I think it will probley be fixxed by new windows install or something.I decided to keep the settings @4911mhz max temp 78c with room at 76f until I redo the plumming for the water cooling. Plus some adjustments Then @5200mhz should be at comfortable temps.I love the board and here is my setup with a Windows exp. score of 7.9P8Z77-V PREMIUMWindows 8 proI7-3770k @ 4911mhz ram 1950.6mhz thats my everday completely stable speed for now.Cpu ratio x47, bclk 104.5 set at 1.360 voltsAda64 perf tests show sensors readings up to 1.450 volts even though bios is set to 1.385vCorsair 16 GB DDR3 2133 MHz CMT16GX3M4X2133C92xEVGA GeForce GTX680 SC SIGNATURE W/B plates water cooled2x Acool 4x 140mm radiators and 2 655 pumps.1x Intel 520 120gb and a 30gb ssd that came with it.6x wD cav green 3tb hdds5x Seagate Barracudas 3tb hdds2 Wd reds 3tb hddsCorsair Professional Series Gold 1200-Watt 80 Plus Gold2 Plextor BD combos 12xASUS 12BILT BD combo 12xNZXT Sentry Mix LED Fan Controller with Six 50-Watt Channels2 Lian Li HDD Power Controller Model : BZ-H06B (Black)Caselabs case.If anyone has questions about this board or the Maximus V extreme feel free to email me at Faster220@aol.com.

I am a quadriplegic and really needed to upgrade my system to be able to handle all the add-ons I need to make access easy. I often have heavy demands on the processor and board because of the tasks I am running. My old system really slowed down to the point where it was almost unusable. A computer savvy friend of mine put together the components I picked, one of which was this board. The only difficulty we had with it was during installation of a liquid cooler for the processor. It really took two sets of hands. Other than that, working with this board was simple and easy. We connected multiple Sata drives, two SDDs and two HDD's, all without a problem. We also attached two internal DVD writers. 16 gigs of memory topped it off along with an Intel 3770 processor And a Geo-Force 550 TI card. I have been so accustomed to plug-and-play that it threw me when Windows 7 was loaded and I only saw one hard drive. However, with a little help we figured out that we had to go in the disk management section of Windows and format each of the drives before they would be visible in "my computer". I know-Should have been immediately obvious but it took a while to figure out. After that, everything went smooth as silk. This board with the Intel processor makes for a lightning fast computer and no matter how hard I try to load it up with programs it just performs flawlessly. I suspect this would be a gamer's delight. The board has everything I could ever want in the way of accessibility and speed. It certainly was expensive but to be honest with you it was worth every penny of it and I would do it again, without hesitation, now that I have used it. Great job Asus!
