Among Intel motherboards, this is ideal for an upgrade of older ATX chassis on a budget. It runs Windows 7 w. Media Center and a Hauppauge TV tuner flawlessly, including HDTV record and play, as well as all of the traditional Windows applications I tried, all with a single 2 GB DIMM.The box came with 2 SATA cables (20-inches long w. locking clips), 1 ribbon cable for older ATA drives (17-inches), a DVI-to-VGA connector adapter, CD with Intel utilities, and RF shield. The included cables are long enough for a mid-tower chassis, but might not reach in every full-size tower. A power cable adapter for SATA drives is not included. See Tripp Lite P944-06I Serial ATA (SATA) Power Cable - 6inEvery "legacy" component worked fine, including an old ATX 1 power supply, PS2 keyboard, speakers (via the old Line-Out) connector, and VGA monitor, using the DVI-to-VGA adapter.Other useful info:The MB is relatively low power. The Intel manual allows use of old ATX 1.x power supplies with a 20-pin connector (the high-order pins, 21-24, remain open, an adapter is NOT required). A 350-watt ATX 1 supply was adaquate for the motherboard with a Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB RAM, 2 hard drives (one each ATA and SATA), 2 DVD (ATA and SATA) drives, and a couple USB loads.Memory can be added one DIMM at a time or in pairs.The PS2 connector can support a keyboard or mouse, NOT both, so I opted for PS2 keyboard, and USB mouse.To learn all details download the manual and the technical product specification (2 separate documents) from the Intel web site, the short product description really does not do it justice. New video and audio drivers are also available from Intel.

I was doing a side job for a family friend. They had an HP A6300F with a dead motherboard. Apparently they are failing by the hundreds and they do not have any new replacements but continue to refurb the cruddy motherboard (which will probably fail again, HP you suck!). I saw in the HP forums that this was a recommended drop-in replacement motherboard. I can confirm 100% that it worked without a hitch. Ok, I did have to install a driver or two for the onboard video and network card but the box came with these and made it brainlessly easy. Also came with the peripheral plate (USB, PS/2, Ethernet, etc.) that was an exact fit for the case. Vista knew the motherboard changed but re-activation only required entering the COA key on the side of the case and the system was up and running. This motherboard has a 3 YEAR WARRANTY! The HP this went into didn't even have that. HP is a joke, Intel rocks. Thanks to the guy in the HP forums who turned me onto this solution. My customer now has a brand new system that can be upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB RAM and a Quad-core CPU...unlike the original motherboard. I had a lot of fun with this project and this motherboard. Update the BIOS too.

Purchased this motherboard from Amazon to replace a failed motherboard on my son's Acer Aspire AM5641-U5520. The features on this motherboard were the closest to the one that came with the system, which included an on-board GPU with HDMI output. All mounting holes lined up perfectly with the case. Although there is only a quick start guide packaged with the board, more detailed instructions are on the enclosed CD which I accessed from another computer. The installation process was pretty straight-forward. The board was a tight fit into the case which was not the fault of the board. Once the board was mounted and all cables installed, I re-installed the CPU and Fan/Heatsink assembly using a fresh dab of thermal paste, reconnected all peripherals to the tower, powered up the system, and was back in business. I selected the windows recovery option when the OS started (running Windows Vista 64 bit, SP 2 with 4GB of RAM). Naturally, drivers had to be installed to get the video and other outputs working properly - a time-consuming process to say the least with the number of reboots that were required. Once completed, the system was finally running like it was before the original motherboard died. So far, the board seems to be performing quite well - perhaps a little better than the original board. CPU temp seems normal although the north/south bridge seems a little high. Other than that, it appears to be a nice system board. My son is very happy to have his PC back!
