Power down your PC, insert the POST (Power On Self Test) code tester into an ISA or PCI slot and then monitor the LED display as your computer boots up. That's all there is to it. LEDs will display if and how well your power supply is operating, then a series of codes will appear on the tester display as your computers BIOS performs its self test. Includes tester, remote display with 24" cable and comprehensive POST code table with error descriptions.

I bought this card to diagnose an angry PC that wouldn't post. I read the technicalinfo on the sellers page and decided to give it a try. Shipping was an issue withthe vendor i bought the card from. I cancelled the order but the vendor shippedit anyway. I had to file a claim but this is a different story altogether.I received the card in a small bubble padded envelope through the USPS. This in itselfisnt a good idea seeing as that the card can be easily damaged. Couple that with thefact that it was put in the mail stream could have spell disaster! As an EX employee for theUSPS i know that the machines for sorting can chew up parcels and post.Luckily, the package arrived unscathed so i decided to read the MANUAL. WOW.... Nowtechnical manuals can be a pain to read and understand as we all know, but this manualis insane. It was written by someone who either has a 3rd grade understanding of English,or it was translated from a different language into English by someone who doest understandEnglish very well. What this boils down to is a useless manual. Sadly, you need a goodmanual to use this card fully.Here is a couple excerpts from the manual in question. "In any cases above, the caed (mispelled)and led doesn' t light or light only 1 bit; rule out the "original code."""According to experience: 2-bits code card is available in testing mainboard below pII300. butnot available in maiboard (spelling) above pII300, so it ' s better to buy 4 - bits pi0050 card,furthermore, we haven't received any ill response from our buyer."The last excerpt is on the top of page 2. After re-reading this excerpt many times, I come tothe understanding that this card IS NOT meant to be used on any board higher than a Pentium 2300 Mhz. NOWHERE on the Amazon ad from this vendor does it say ANYTHING about this ANYWHERE onthe product listing or technical information. This my friends is false advertisement. Whilethe card may have the ability to work on SOME motherboards higher than a P2, it was never meantfor anything above a P2. This would have been nice to know before buying the card.One last order of business, the 4 digit readout. Post codes come in the 2 digit variety. IE; 0bor e7. This readout gives you 4 digits and is not explained in the manual. Testing a gateway intelboard that properly boots up yields 00eb. To date i have not found anything on google to explainthe extra digits. So how on earth does one read this card? Is it the first 2 digits, the middle 2 orthe last 2? Whats the point of the extra 2 digits? It would be nice to know.The only good thing i have to say about the card is it works. Once i figure out how to use it,it might prove to be a nice tool but at least i now know i need to buy yet another card for testingnewer PC's.

For those of you who still diagnose older computers, this is one of the better desktop boards I have come across. It has the ISA on one side, and PCI on the bottom. The cable included has a display you can use outside the box so you can see the last and current code set to POST. Anyone else who has worked with a PC knows the last POST is not always the failing point.Haven't figured out the button yet, but it looks like you can wire the power or reset button using the 2-wire connector. Shame they didn't use the reset line on the PCI/ISA buses.. Very highly recommended.

I already discussed this product in previous survey but here goes: Directions for product were impossible to understand making the product useless! Shame on Amazon for endorsing such a product!
