3"Interesting" Board... Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.
By ItsMeMark
The ZOTAC Z68-ITX WiFi Supreme is "interesting" to say the least. Whether or not this is a good thing, I'm not entirely sure of yet. The big thing with the Z68ITX-B-E is that it packs a bunch of great features into one ultra small form factor. What the board does offer can be found on any website but how all those specifications work in real life is a different matter. The short version is available at the bottom.First, the big thing: the integrated 430 GTX. Yes it is a dedicated graphics card but it is a laughable one. Honestly if you need the absolute smallest case possible for some light gaming this works perfectly. If you intend on using larger itx sized cases which house full, or even half height, cards you can do better. Now if the main purpose is to play 1080p video without any gaming, grab a cheaper board and just use the intel HD 3000 integrated graphics since it's basically the same as the 430 on media files. The included Display Port is a great addition and while I haven't attempted it, should allow triple monitor support (?) .What confuses me is why Zotac or all itx boards don't just use laptop GPUs instead of using these desktop ones. *The biggest flaw of the Z68ITX-B-E is that the HDMI port on the board is controlled by the integrated chip NOT the 430.* I have to minus one star for this hefty oversight. Still, the idea is excellent and I hope they make more boards with higher power cards in the future.Second has to do with the board noise. I did notice some capacitor humming and that must be a Zotac issue because my H67 board does the same thing (albeit a lot worse). My rating gets minus one star for that. Then again, the intel stock heatsink is so loud, I can't hear it anyway. Nevertheless, silence is golden and that was a big disappointment.Third is the current poor implementation of USB 3. This has nothing to do with Zotac or the board and no points were removed or added to my rating because of this segment. Until the drivers for the USB 3 ports are loaded inside the operating system, the ports should be considered dead. The fact that they don't work automatically right out the box for all motherboards really sucks.Fourth deals with laptop ram. I actually like this. Yes, I had to go out and buy a separate set of ram for this board but it's a great way to save precious space and honestly, overclocking in itx is just unnecessary. Even the i3 stock speeds will not bottleneck performance and while good ram is necessary for overclocking, it's just not intended for this board.Fifth, the included mSATA port at the bottom of the motherboard is a great addition. Some people won't like that this port takes up precious bandwidth but in the spirit of keeping the board as compact as possible, this port removes the need for a SATA drive entirely. I like this feature quite a bit.Sixth has to do with the rest. Including the wireless card is awesome, this seems to be a continuing thread and I approve of it greatly. Having optical out as well as S/PDIF is perfect. The gigabit Ethernet port is something taken lightly but useful for turning the machine into a NAS or file server of some sort. I'd recommend going with the intel HD or Atom platform for those purposes even though the PCI x4 slot makes expanding the SATA ports really easy. Finally, something I hope to see in the future. PCI x8/x16 port and then... SLI support for that slot with the integrated card. A man can dream.**The short version** I give the board a 3 out of 5. This board is very specialized toward people who need some extra power for games in a small system but even then it falls short. The capacitor quality, or whatever is causing that hum is not an isolated case with Zotac and that needs to be fixed. That being said the board is packed with just about every feature available in other larger Z68 boards and I like where itx is going.

4Great Board, but Consider it's Alternative.
By Jacob
Pros: This board is feature packed - there are so many things you can do with it. I have a Corsair Force SSD for my Boot drive, a 500GB media drive for gaming that is enhanced with SRT, a 32B mSATA drive (for SRT,) Blu-ray Drive. This thing handles them all perfectly and it's IO is well placed all around. The onboard GT 430 is great for any kind of HD streaming, however, gaming is another issue. I knew this thing's limitations when i bought it - you can play some older games quite nicely though, like Fallout, Total War, Left 4 Dead 2, and Minecraft. Just dont expect to play Skyrim on Ultra. If you are looking for a nice HTPC board with a little more "oomph" than the Intel graphics, this board is a great choice. Go with the other Z68 Zotac board with the x16 slot and perhaps a 6670 if you are looking to do some medium to high level gaming.Cons: Being an HTPC board, I would expect the peripherals to be quiet. The onboard GT 430 uses a little 4 pin PWM 45mm fan that gave off some very high pitched electrical noise. The fan is made by a fan manufacturer I have never heard of, so I decided that I would replace it. The only problem is, 45mm fans that have PWM capability are a rarity, unless you get them on ebay from - you guessed it - a strange, unheard of company. Unwilling to take that chance, I went with a 45mm 3 pin VGA fan from Evercool. Upon trying to remove the fan, I found that the screws were very small, and very hard to remove - I tried using a screwdriver that was made for a Slim DVD Drive's Micro Screws, but it just was not long enough to get the torque i needed. I ended up using my longer screwdriver with interchangeable heads, and used one that looked like a standard philips head but with a pointier end. The screws did not want to come out of the heatsink even though they were 1mm from being completely unscrewed, so I just pried off the fan and the screws came out with it. Being that the screws on the original heatsink did not match up with the new fan, I used some plastic velcrow to attatch my new fan to the heatsink, and used a molex 3 pin voltage control cable to reduce the RPMs of the fan - all 7000 of them. Yes, the BIOS does not feature fan voltage control. Besides these two issues, the board was great. Conclusion: The choice between this board and it's non GT 430 brother is all a matter of usage. For an HTPC actaully being used as an HTPC, you cannot go wrong with this board. It provides ample graphics performance with even some light gaming. If you are looking to buy a mini-itx system with more power, however, go with the other Z68 with the x16 slot. Why would you use a 2500k when all you have is a GT 430? In my opinion that is a huge bottleneck, which is why I went with a 35w Core i3. The only Z68 feature you should be using on this board is SRT. The reason I chose this board over the other one is that I was only going to do light gaming on my HTPC. I am able to accomplish this while still using the PCI slot for a Hauppage TV Tuner. If I had chosen the other board with a 6670, I would have been out of luck. Overall this board is awesome for my needs but may not be suitable for everyone. Because of the fan escapade, I am deducting one star, for a total score of 4/5.

4Great for custom builds
By Tim
I picked this board up for a custom rig I build for PAX East 2012. The board was installed in a Payphone ([...])Its a great little board with enough power to play what you want, if your not worried about pushing EVERY gfx setting to max.Pros -SmallFeaturesSpeed for sizeCons -The CPU socket has a few resisters close to the socket thus some aftermarket CPU coolers will not fix without breaking them or modding the coolerPrice is a bit high for a 1155 board
