The M5A97 LE R2.0 features the AMD 970/SB950 chipset and supports the latest AMD socket AM3+ for 8-core processors. With a new Socket AM3+, it offers usability of Socket AM3 or AM3+, allowing the user a choice of previous or current AMD CPUs. Dual Intelligent Processor technology is now available on this ASUS AMD motherboard, integrating the EPU (Energy Processing Unit) and TPU (TurboV Processing Unit) hardware based processors for the ultimate in energy savings and processor scaling. ASUS EPU conserves energy by intelligently moderating power and load requirements in real-time while TPU provides intelligent system scaling for incredible increases in platform performance while retaining stability.

Good features for the price and form factor (full ATX) with room to grow. More external fan control connectors on main board and plenty of PCI slots. The lack of onboard video is a plus as that allows for more useful features and price point. With six SATA slots, I'm down to two (one external (with extra back plate) and one internal use) - so I can still expand the system later.Things I really like about this board:>UEFI Bios>Price>Support for Windows 8 & FX CPU Line>USB 3 support>WORKS OUT OF THE BOX WITH ESXi - NIC & Storage controller supported!>Up to 32GB RAM>Expansion slot layout

this MOBO specifically says it supports the AMD 8350 but i had freezing and crashing issues making the system unusable. got the990x model and had no problems

Pros:Tons of USB portsAwesome UEFI BiosEasy setupCheapCons:None so far (will update if something pops up)I decided to build a new PC and was torn between this and a Gigabyte mobo. I decided on this one because of the Asus name and I couldn't be happier. Everything worked great. The Bios were the easiest I have ever used. It has a full GUI interface with mouse support. The board has plenty of usb ports on the back and plenty of headers on the board for more. It also supports faster charging of iPads and my Nexus 7. I put a six core FX processor on it but it supports up to an eight core AMD FX. If you are on a budget and need a good motherboard with plenty of expandability I highly recommend this board.
