I've been running this board in a homebrewed WhiteBox server, which runs Hyper-V Server 2012. All the board's hardware was supported natively by the OS. SuperMicro's IPMI support is fantastic and allowed me to perform the OS installation from my desk, without ever connecting an Optical Disk Drive or USB Thumbdrive/External HDD to the system.My only complaint with the board lies with the decision to include 3x PCI slots. These slots are rated at 33 MHz and are hardly used in modern server environments (I have a single Intel 1gigE NIC in a slot, with the other 2 disused, as this NIC saturates the PCI bus on its own). However, all the available PCIe lanes on the northbridge were consumed by the PCIe x16 and dual x8 slots. I would have preferred to see the x16 slot be moved one down from its current position, with a tiny 1x slot above it, but if you look at the board's layout, you'll see why the engineers at supermicro were unable to do that: The CPU socket is very large and occupies much of the board's real-estate. I've selected to use a larger-than-traditional heatsink in my build, as I've built the system into a 4U chassis. The current trend in server design suggests that 1U and 2U servers are more popular for system-per-rack density reasons. However, this board's layout is not conducive to 1U and 2U chassis if the system builder has the intention to use more than 1 expansion slot.The board will take a remarkable amount of RAM (I'm using Kingston ECC DDR3-1333 myself), to pair with a CPU with anywhere from 8 to 16 cores. I'm extremely happy with my setup, and with this board.It's impressive to fit so much on a standard ATX form-factor. But, if the engineers at SuperMicro are listening, next time, consider making the board a 10-11 inch deep variant of ATX, rather than the 9 inch pattern you chose. This would allow for numerous subcomponent placement improvements.

We have built over 10 servers, and 8 of them have this board.2 of the boards have had problems - one was out of the box DOA, the second one failed approximately 1 year later. Still, its functionality outweighs these two issues and we have been satisfied overall with the performance.
