Threw this in a Silverstone GD-06 case and ran like a charm. Has plenty on connections for the (2) installed hard drives, (1) SSD, and two more hotplugs. Another reviewer wished the SATA ports were on the side but that would not be benifical in a tight HTPC case, so the straight plugs work great for me.Has plenty USB ports, although I wish for the price the board would have had a plug for a front panel USB 3.0 connector. I am disappointed also with fact that ASUS used an ASMedia controller on here which is about worthless.Beyond, those two issues, this is a great board that offers all the capabilities of the Z68 chipset attached ASUS quality products. Another win from another satisfied customer.

I have to agree with Nelson Minar's review: the hardware is great but the drivers leave a lot to be desired.Linux: The Realtek LAN driver has a problem with auto-negotiation, this can be fixed by specifying a manual configuration, IP address etc. It seems that this is a long standing bug with the default Realtek Linux drivers.[...]You also need to specially load the sensor package: "sudo apt-get install lm-sensors" to avoid problems with auto fan control and overtemp shutdowns. [...]Win 7 - 64 bit: The "LucidLogix® Virtu (Universal Switchable Graphics)" requires several undocumented BIOS settings to load, the BIOS "update from the Internet" function never starts a download, and several of the overclocking tools are erratic. There MAY be a way to make this all work, but I have not found it after nearly a month with this board!Documentation is very sparse, both from ASUS and the module/software suppliers.Dual booting with overclocking set up causes severe instability - not a surprise since the internals of Linux (Mint 12) and Win 7 are so different, but this effectively makes the small gains from overclocking useless without some way to change the settings based on the OS!Hopefully these issues will be fixed as time goes on, but for now these are major issues. I would not buy this board again!

I just got this board for a Linux server. It's an impressive board, nicely laid out and a good price. However the Realtek 8111E ethernet adapter included on the motherboard is not well supported by Linux kernels. On my system, the ethernet interface doesn't come up until 10-200 seconds after system boot. There's a lot of discussion on this bug online but no clear fix.Some other ASUS Z68 boards like the ASUS P8Z68-V are very similar but have an Intel network controller instead of Realtek; they are probably better choices for Linux.
