Currently using an intel 3820 quad core CPU, and it is fast. My only complaint is that when using the CPUFAN, I can't control it's speed apropriately when using a 3 pin connected fan, you need the four pin fan to do just that, otherwise it runs at 100% all the time. You can adjust that in the Bios once you have a four pin fan for the CPU. This board is pci express 3.0, but will run 2.0 just fine. It is capable of pci express 3.0 in a 16x16 configureation, but dual slot graphics cards will block your pci slots, plan ahead when using an SLI configuration. So far, no major issues with the BIOS like some have claimed to have, but perhaps I'm just lucky. I did upgrade my BIOS before installing the Operating System. Please use low rise ram as it will interfere with some CPU heatsinks. If this CPU is fast, I can only imagine the newer, more faster 2011 CPUs.Update 3-28-12I've had no issues with this motherboard since I have purchased it. After a bit of tinkering around the BIOS, I was able to bring my Corsiar fans down to 70% and my pc is now very quiet for 3 pin fans. I've even upgraded my graphics card to the EVGA Titan, and again this board keep being the small power house that it has proven to be. Only thing left for me to do is upgrade my CPU to something faster, but wow, those are just like purchasing the Titan all over again. I'll update again if something new occurs or when I install something new.

`The board I received came with Bios version 1.0, which worked fine with an i7-3820 CPU. I updated the Bios to the latest version 1.60 from a USB thumb drive.Intel LGA 2011 processors don't come with a CPU cooler, so I got the official Intel cooler here on Amazon at a great price:Intel Thermal Solution AirI'm using (4) 4GB Samsung Low-Voltage 1600 MHz dimms on this board, they work fine and Sisoft Sandra reports memory bandwidth of 37 GB/second.There are 2 dimm slots on each side of CPU, but they are not oriented in the same direction, be careful when installing memory.This motherboard has onboard USB 2.0 pin headers if you want to add a bracket at the rear with additional USB ports. The pin headers are near the front of the board, so you will need a USB bracket with long cables to reach, maybe 9 or 10 inches. I bought this bracket on Amazon that works fine:StarTech.com 2 Port USB A Female Slot Plate Adapter (USBPLATE)There are (2) PCI-E x16 v3.0 slots on the board, and NVidia SLI and ATI Crossfire modes are supported.IMPRESSIONS:After a week using the new board with 64-bit Windows 7 and Crucial M4 SSD, it is fast and stable, no complaints.Packed in with the motherboard is a full-color 'MSI Intel X79 Overclocking Guide' that helps with overclocking strategies, a nice extra.Speaking of overclocking there are (2) jumpers (JCOLD1, JCOLD2) onboard for people that are using a Liquid Nitrogen cooling setup. Hardcore!Another interesting bit: there are (10) tiny Voltage Check points on the board, so you can use a DMM with probes and measure the voltages directly. Not sure why you would want to do this, but hey whatever! hahaAmazon sells this for only 195 d0llars after rebate, probably the best deal on an LGA2011 board right now. I would buy this board again.

I had read comments from people to stay away from MSI motherboards, but I decided to try one anyway for my new computer build. BIG mistake. The damn thing would freeze up and NEVER get to any kind of Windows setup. Just to make sure, I used the other new components with my old motherboard, and they're working fine. It went back to Amazon today, and I'll never buy another MSI product.
