Having never torn a laptop apart did not know exactly what to expect - wasn't even sure it was the system board that had gone bad but since there was no power figured it a was a pretty good chance. Well the install went very well & the PC booted right up. Fixed my sisters PC for $30 - she is excited. One note - if you must have a specialty video card you will need to order the system board with one built in. On these Dell computers (no experience with others yet) the video card is soldered into the system board. It's not like a tower where they pull out. Not a problem though - the video card that came with the system board is more than acceptable. & if you wish to put a service tag into the board use the Dell DCCU (Dell Client Configuration Utility). Actually it doesn't insert a service tag but does insert an Asset Tag & Ownership Tag which is all that is required by Dell.I am constantly amazed with Amazon & the ease of finding things you would have trouble getting somewhere else (eBay not bad either). It was so easy to locate this board on Amazon. Dell.com does not support this laptop anymore - except for documentation & they do a pretty good job there. I don't think Dell would have ever provided a system board anyway - try doing a search @ Dell.com for something like this. You'll be looking all day. Took less than one minute on Amazon. Would really like to say thanks to the seller!

After installing this motherboard I see frequent blue screen error messages indicating either a problem with the graphic adapter or memory. The laptop will not reboot without repairing the operating system. Installing service pac 2 or the graphic driver causes the blue screen to come back. The processor clock also flashes back and forth betweenPentium(R) Mprocessor 1.73GHz1.73Ghz 0.99 GB of RamtoIntel(R) Pentium(R) Mprocessor 1.73GHz794 MHz 0.99 GB of RamUnstable product. The seller demanded I return item within 3 business days, pay for insurance and pay for tracking. I complained to Amazon about the unfair terms and Amazon gave a full refund. I would not buy another product from this seller.
