Lightening got my old system starting at my lightening supressor and stoping when I had nothing left. What a great time to try the newest technology AMD has to offer. To that end, I chose this ASUS motherboard for the home of my new A-3850 APU. I have used ASUS motherboards and video cards for quite a number of years now and have always been satisfied with their products. This motherboard is no exception. The install was quick and simple. The only area I was worried about was the memory that I had purchased. I had bought Gskill low voltage 1600 MHz DDR3, 1.25 volt memory at a super deal. (Less than $50 for 8GB) It was not on the list of supported memory. Well, I was pleased when I fired the system up. It recognized the memory at the correct voltage and speed. No problems at all! The drivers and utilities all loaded without a flaw. The options available for Overclocking and Maintainig your PC that ASUS provides with this motherboard are almost limitless. One feature that others don't offer is the Memory checker feature Mem OK Button. You just put a stick of RAM in a slot and hit the MEM OK Button, Immediately you will know whether the stick of Ram is good or not. Boy, can that save some trouble-shooting time. This ASUS F1A75-M-F1 Socket-A75- is a feature packed Micro ATX Motherboard based on the AMD (HUDSON D3 Chip Set)for the A-Series AMD APU. It feature SATA 6Gbps,USB 3.0,TPM Support, and more. Pros:1. 2 USB 3.0 and 4 USB 4.0 back ports.2. USB 3.0 internal connector. No USB 3.0 front ports? No problem, there are still USB 2.0 internal connectors to go for.3. A MicroATX that supports two discrete graphics cards (AMD CrossFireX)4. Easy UEFI BIOS interface.Cons:1. The PCI-E 1x slot is easily blocked by a discrete graphics card.2. Inconvenient to install system memory in Rosewill Dual Fans MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case FBM-01 because they'll be blocked by 5.25" and 3.5" trays. Also the APU socket position position causes my AMD stock fan to press against my hard drive's SATA power cable very tightly, so I am still in search for a CPU cooler with smaller width than a stock cooler, which is difficult to find.Other thoughts:1. ASUS is a brand I can trust, this board is no exception.2. The issue with CPU cooler and memory slots are mostly an issue with the computer case, since it is small even among MicroATX cases.

Board runs nicely. Easy to install in case, runs fast and stable. The trick comes in getting it up and running properly. Installed the board along with an AMD A6 3500 (AD35000JGXBOX) and Win 7 64 Home Premium. Win 7 went on a new drive. Windows 7 went on with no hiccups. Installation of the video wasn't fun. I couldn't get the graphic drivers that came on the dvd with the board to install. The installation kept coming up in Chinese; the scroll box with all the languahes kept scrolling up and down making it impossible to select English. If I read Chinese, I wouldn't complain. Couldn't figure out whether it was the board, APU, or the the Win 7 installation. Ok, time for process of elimination, which means hours of work. I put in a known good graphics card. (Those of us who have built many a machine have learned the hard way a good starting place is the graphic drivers.) Everything worked fantastic. So I pulled the card out. That narrowed it to the graphics drivers. Now here's the trick. First, do not use the graphic drivers on the Asus dvd or download from Asus. Next, flash the BIOS, which is quite simple. Third, using Win 7's native video driver, set adapter setting to 1920X1080. Here's the important part: Go to AMD and download the drivers for the AMD Radeon card, [...]. Once that's installed, shut down, don't just reboot. Restart. It's run sweet ever since. Maybe it was just a flaky thing unique to my installation, bad Karma, or my failure to read an installation instruction. Gosh, we all know builders always read instructions first. It's really a great board. Give 5 stars but that installation...
