I wanted to go with the LGA 2011 platform but the powder blue ASUS boards didn't do it for me, though they are feature-packed. I liked the color scheme of this...it matched the rest of my components and the Corsair Dominators I got to go with it. The BIOS is clunky...but not hard to get used to.Best part of this mobo for me was that it only cost me 2 bills to my door with Amazon Prime and takes a 3820 with no need for a BIOS update. Seems like many of those other X79 boards have the usual pebcak complainers and I wanted to avoid all that. I owned a TPower P45 board for my e8400 and it was a pretty good board.4.3 Ghz was easy peesy japaneesy. Seems pretty solid...XMP profile on my RAM is working great. Five stars for the board and Amazon!

I purchased the Biostar TP X79 for a new socket 2011 build, along with an I7-3820. This is my first foray into the Biostar world of motherboards...as I almost always use MSI boards. I am very pleasantly surprised. This one is proving to be very well built and stable. It also offers only what I need and nothing I don't. The price certainly reflects that as well. I needed a bluetooth adapter, for which I spent $12...instead of paying 5x as much for having it integrated onto the board. I love the 4x SATA3 headers, the stability and placement. Triple SLI user (with dual slot cards) will have an issue. The two lowest PCI-e slots are just a bit too close for utilization of both. I do basic 2-way SLI, so that's not an issue for me. All-in-all, I'm very happy with this board. It's a real bargain vs other 2011 boards price-wise, without giving up too much in features...and certainly not performance.

This board has just about every feature, except 1394b/Firewire connector. But, for less than $20 I installed a PCI express Firewire that has both 400 AND 800 external and one connection on its board for a case Firewire.
