Overall a great motherboard and I've been very pleased with it for the past year.The only negative I have is upgrading to the 2009 BIOS bricked the ability to use any LSI storage controllers - a big problem when you've used for over a year happily and now can't boot. Anyway, ordered the prior BIOS version 0904 from Asus and back in good shape, but shame on them for releasing that 2009 BIOS without testing thurougly.So, would I buy again or recommend? Absolutely!

This is hands-down the best-looking motherboard I've ever seen. Great packaging, good layout, easy to read and see where everything goes. Unfortunately, that doesn't quite cut the mustard. It does have to work, and this one won't.Using memory straight from the QVL (Kingston KVR1333D3E9SK2/8G), Intel Xeon E3-1230 and ATI FireGL 5700, well, it won't fire up. I've changed memory, checked the CPU, put the cute little diagnostics card in - it gives me a nice readout of either '22' or '23' (changes on alternate attempts); has a glowing blue light next to a red light by the magic memory switch... and no combination works.Bad on me - waiting on the project past Amazon's return window (bought this in November 2012). Bad on Asus - their website is a mass of confusion punting from one url to another with no end in sight, and no one replies to email inquiries. Guess I have an interesting piece of wall art.Bummer.

This board worked great. I chose this particular board it because it was still compatible with Server 2003 and the drivers loaded no problem on the SBS2003 server that I had to upgrade. Building this server out made me wish I was using it for myself.If you are using this with a xeon and planning to use onboard video, you need to make sure you get a processor that ends in '5' such as the E3-1225. If you use just the 1220, onboard video will NOT work because the Ex-xxx0 series do not have a built in video processor like the Ex-xx5 chips (or standard desktop core i processors) do. I used an E3-1225 and a RAID10 of 4 enterprise SATA drives using the onboard controller and this thing just flies. Disk read benchmarks were faster than the brand new Samsung SSD in my desktop core i7 computer.
