I got this gem 4 days after ordering (no special delivery either). This is no common, garden-variety motherboard. It is extremely well-crafted, heavy, and laid out in a very friendly manner. It is the same board as the much more expensive 890FXA-UD7, however it is not set-up for more than 2 cards in crossfire - the more expensive board can run 3, and that seems to be the only difference I can tell. There are plenty of SATA plugs (6), the headers are all extremely well-marked, there's plenty of room around the PCIE slots for the really big video cards, and the on-board cooling of the NB chip is phenomenal. The BIOS is fantastic, from plug-and-play simplicity to being an overclocker's dream - it has it all. I am not an extreme gamer, but this board can be tweaked and pushed beyond the point where others fail. There's FULL control of every aspect (if so desired), and the BIOS makes it (almost) foolproof to mess up as it reboots and resets when it can't boot properly. And if that's not enough, there's a clear CMOS button so no more need to short out the 2 pins (which are still there in case something happens to the button I guess). I have owned several Gigabyte boards over the years, all extremely good, but this one is by far the best I've come across. It is every bit as good as the Asus Crosshair IV at a much lower price point (the UD7 model can go toe-to-toe and come out a hands-down winner, but that's what the extra $60 gets you). And it seems to be as future-proofed as state-of-the-art boards can get. Be aware that there is only one of the older, regular PCI slots so if you've got more than 1 legacy card, you'll need to upgrade (usually). Gigabyte's manual gives great detail, and the website goes into more specifics. There are also many forums dedicated to this board as it is a true overclocker's dream - a quick Google will find many of them. Also be aware that this board is full-sized, so you're case needs to be at least a mid-tower, if not larger. (The more expensive UD7 is an XL and requires a large case as the footprint of the board just won't fit a normal-sized one). I highly recommend this board, especially if you're into tweaking and overclocking. lots of sata plugs and some of hard to find plugs,(ide,fdd,com,lpt) so if are running some older hardware and slowly making your way to newer hardware now you can take your time with the safe feeling that your motherboard will still be able to handle the newer hardware not be out dated anytime soon. great investment

First off, I'd like to thank John at Gigabyte technical support, and Mike K and Teresa from Amazon for their great support!I was looking to upgrade my old MSI 870-G45 and originally wanted to get another MSI board. Fortunately for me, MSI's very poor technical support steered me toward Gigabyte and I'm very, very happy with it.The good stuff is that this board has ports galore from 6Gb SATA to old Centronics LPT ports. This is great if you have to transport your system around, which I need to do from time to time. This board also allows you the nifty ability to charge USB devices (like your cell phone) when the power is off. More importantly than these, I needed IOMMU support for linux-based virtualization. This board not only supported IOMMU but also had an AM3+ socket for the new Bulldozer processors announced by AMD. The board also has 5 fan ports which was great because I could get rid of my fan controller.The bad is that Gigabyte confirmed IOMMU support in rev 3.0 and later and you need at least rev 3.1. of this system board for an AM3+ socket. If you're not using the system for I/O virtualization or don't plan to upgrade processors in the near future this isn't much of a problem. For me it was a challenge getting Amazon to ship the correct version of the board as it's not represented by their SKU. With the help of the above mentioned people, I got past the crummy support of Amazon's outsource service groups. The 3rd board shipped did the trick and the other two are going back Monday.More ports than an ASUS Crosshair, far better support than MSI, I couldn't be happier... for now....
