5Best Bang for Buck LGA 2011 Board sub $300
By zen-pc.com
I have had no issues with any DOA boards and have used this board in most of my LGA 2011 custom builds these last few months. It's my favorite sub $300 board as far as features vs price (don't go with the Extreme4 version which is pretty barebones in terms of features). Don't treat this as an economy/budget build component either. It still features the same high quality Japanese gold capacitors plus I love the black/graphite pcboard which is a signature of ASRock motherboards. ASRock is a subdivision of ASUS and was meant to compete with such OEM 3rd party component manufacturers like Foxconn but their quality and performance for their price have made them a big favorite for techies that appreciate best bang for buck components. When my clients don't demand specialty boards like the Asus Sabertooth or EVGA Classified SR series then I go with ASRock for the bulk of all my custom Ivy 1155 and 2011 LGA builds. GSkill RAM works great with ASRock boards.

4Good little board, but buy with care!
By J. Taylor
EDIT: Updates are at the bottom of the review!Hey All, So I have just finished up building a new desktop PC and this is the second motherboard I went with and I have to say while I am overall happy (note the 4 stars) I am a bit disappointed as well.I want to start out with what to be aware of:1) This board is not capable of running TRI-SLI because of component clearance issues with the last PCIe slot. When you plug in USB 2.0 connectors, HD Audio or even just the front panel connections, you will not be able to seat a third card on to the motherboard as the bottom of a double wide graphics card will rest on top of them and not settle into its PCIe slot. This was the part that was truly disappointing to me.2) This board is not what I would call an easy install. I have a Corsair M90 keyboard that the BIOS recognizes just fine in the USB 3.0 ports, however the Windows 7 Installation disk do Not. This makes installing the OS impossible. Luckily I also have access to other keyboards (and my brother was asleep so he did not notice his missing for an hour or so).3) RAID is only supported by 2 of the SATA3 connectors. This was not a huge deal to me but it is worth noting. Also, trying to install Windows 7 on a RAID volume will also require you to have a USB drive w/ the drivers on them so it can see the hard drives.. Any of the hard drives really. This is also not a huge deal but something to be aware of.And now the good things:1) 9 SATA connections. 5xSATA3 and 4xSATA2 provide access to plenty of storage options as well as a large amount of storage space. While only 2 of the SATA3 drives can be put into a RAID configuration this did not stop me from pushing forward with this board. A single drive letter for 4 drives would have been nice but it is by no means a deal breaker, just an opportunity to organize my storage a bit more2) 64GB of RAM. This may change in being awesome in a year or maybe even in a few months. But for right now this is a significant amount of RAM. I currently am running 32GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM on this board and I am highly considering moving up to 64GB with the intention of making a 32GB RAM DISK. This emulates a hard drive complete in RAM and is excellent for very fast access to that data (SSDs are fast but RAM is a bit faster as well).3) ATX Form-factor. This may not seem like a thing to be excited about but it was for me as it opened up the possibilities of more computer cases it can fit within. Granted I could not run TRI-SLI like I wanted but I do have a very nice computer case that allows me to really maintain my system and this board moving forward. Since the last motherboard limited what cases I could use (Was an XL-ATX Motherboard) this makes it on the list for me.4) Convenient Component Layout. As mentioned in the SLI remark above all of the USB, HD Audio and power panel connectors are across the bottom of this board. I am actually kind of sick of these being placed wedged between PCIe slots so you have to run cables under or over a graphics card. These are along the edge and make running cables to them very very simple and clean. People who put together their own computers will truly respect this layout decision.5) RAM Layout. For 32GB I am not using the closest two DIMM slots for my RAM. This opens up quite a few coolers for the system. While I still went with an All-In-One water cooling system from Corsair (H100i) I do believe this could fit another cooler with out bumping up against ram because the slots are empty. Just another tidbit to consider.Summary: I just want to say that except for the TRI-SLI muck-up above, the issues listed at the top are not uncommon across all X79 boards. The reason I am sticking with this board is finishing the installation process really does appear to work the kinks out and give you a powerful little system. The feature set is fairly awesome when taken as a whole as well as individually and the options presented by its layout are definitely worthy of the attention to system builders. Overall I do recommend this board to friends as well as all of you reading this, but please be aware this is going to take some effort and maybe a bit of planning on your end to get things up and running.Update (12/20/2012): So I have gone through most of the updates and I can not stress enough that you need to update the BIOS on this board. Almost all of the quirks that I describe above likely could have been smoothed over (aside from physically fitting 3 cards in) by the updated BIOS that ASRock has out for this motherboard. No more USB issues, but 2.0 and 3.0 are playing side by side gracefully (I have my headset charging on a USB2.0 port while the receiver is on a 3.0 port even). I am looking forward to a quiet and very powerful computer and will update down the road assuming its all smoothly.

5Great.
By Vincent B.
Easy install. CMOS reset on board is a life-saver, Dr. Debug was amazingly helpful with trouble-shooting. If I was building another 2011 socket PC, this is the board I'd go with.
