4Great value board for RGA2011 chipset
By Big X
One star off for BIOS incompatibility, and that's being nice. This is a great little board for the person who wants 64 GB Quad Channel RAM capacity, but who doesn't need onboard 5.1 or 7.1 audio, onboard 19-pin internal USB 3.0 connections, or more than 2 onboard external USB 3.0 connections. Of course any of these can be added/increased with expansion cards. If you plan on going with the i7 3820 processor, let this be my warning to you. You will need either the i7 3930 or 3960 processor (at time of writing) to get this board working. The BIOS this board ships with is incompatible with the 3820, and there is no way to flash it using any of Intel's flash or recovery methods because it won't pass POST. I spent many hours reading forums with people having the same issue, and I realized I was left with 4 viable options:1. Contact Intel - they would either flash the BIOS and send it back or send out a replacement board with current BIOS... all at my cost (time and money).2. Have a repair shop flash the BIOS that has one of the other two processors on hand. Repair shops are plentiful, but none I could find wanted to eat the cost of a new $500 processor to get my board working.3. Borrow the correct processor from a friend who doesn't mind disassembling his/her setup to help me. If you have such a friend (which I don't), I would recommend at the very least buying him/her a new syringe of Arctic Silver for the trouble.4. Find a store locally who would accept an open box return on a 3930 ($500) or 3960 ($1000) purchase - preferably with no restocking fees - and flash the BIOS myself.Since 2 and 3 weren't really options for me, I opted for #4. Micro Center had both chips in stock and was 1 1/2 hours away in Detroit. They also have a 15-day Walmart-like return policy on processors. It took a tank of gas and two round-trips, so it certainly still cost me time and money, but I didn't have to wait for the turnaround from Intel. Here's my beef: It says on Intel's website that this board requires the 0430 BIOS, so Intel is covered. Now how many people consult the manufacturer website before buying a product from a vendor? How many people even know what BIOS their board is going to ship with? BTW - this one shipped with 0281. How many people would assume that compatibility wouldn't be an issue if there are only 3 processors that currently fit a board, and the board and processors are all made by the same company? I'm not bitter, though, because I obviously didn't do enough homework. Well, maybe a little bitter. So if you buy this board for your 3820 processor, make sure you somehow verify that the BIOS version is 0430 or higher.

5works good for me, and compatible with Intel i7 3820
By Kris Vonderahe
Owned since late March 2012.Some people say "not compatible with Intel i7 3820", but it works just fine with my Intel i7 3820 CPU (just depends on the BIOS version). Check-out Intel's website (compatibility chart); I put the link in comments, since Amazon doesn't allow links in reviews. You should have BIOS 430 or higher to use i7 3820.It shipped with BIOS 281, but Windows XP wouldn't install with that BIOS. And I guess if it did, then I would have had other problems since BIOS 281 wasn't compatible with i7 3820 anyway. After flashing BIOS 460, Windows XP installed fine. I was able to flash it myself from a USB stick.I have used BIOS 460 for several months with no issues other than those described in "cons". I tried BIOS 515, but it caused the USB 3.0 to fail (not recognized), so I went back to BIOS 460. I recently upgraded to BIOS 525, and it works great (noticeably faster boot than 460), but still same "cons" as below.PROS* fast boot* no BSOD* works fine with Windows XP Home SP3* doesn't get too hot (using Intel's liquid cooled heatsink)CONS* Sleep mode/standby mode does not work (probably due to Windows XP).* Yellow bang on the USB 3.0 driver, but you can avoid it by enabling USB optimization in the BIOS; it's a known issue; see comments for details/link.

4Overall very good.
By pdna2
In general, everything was as advertised and so far all's working well. I was a little disappointed that there's on on-board connector for USB 3.0 to connect to a case, but my own fault for not doing enough research. I wouldn't think that this would have cost very much to include since they actually have the connector slot labelled-just no pins.Buyers should be aware that the BIOS on the board as shipped is outdated. First operation on startup needs to be a visit to Intel's website to update the BIOS. Had a lot of issues until I discovered the discrepancy. After the update, all runs perfectly.Very pleased that the screw holes for the CPU lined up exactly with the Corsair H100 block - no fiddling with a back brace required.
