Where I stay, energy prices are near 0.25 US$ per KWh. In this building, we have approx. 50 computers running. With many old machines around, that makes for a hefty energy bill.No, we do not do much "gaming" (Who on earth has time for gaming these days ??), but graphics capabilities of the MoBo should be "reasonable" - so to speak. Watching a Video or Animation should not become a show-stopper. This MoBo offers a HDMI interface, so far I only evaluated using the VGA.Yes, we need energy efficient machines with a small footprint. That's why I prefer Mini-ITX.Whatever computer hardware we buy today: Face IT: It will be e-waste just a few years from now. The smaller the footprint of the soon-to-be garbage, the better.The pattern seems to be: New computer every 3 years, up to a max. of 5 years. The sad story about computer electronics is that they are extremely wasteful both in production and life-cycle. They just don't last very long, today's excitement is tomorrow's trash.AMD answered to the Intel Atom D525 with the integrated chipset Hudson M1. I have versions of both Intel and AMD Motherboards on the bench, but the AMD clearly wins the contest. I have no hard data to substantiate that, but my subjective judgement should be enough here.The setup: This MoBo, a 2 Gig-Stick of Kingston KVR1333D3N9K2 Memory, a no-frills apex-mi008 case, 500Gig HDD, DVD burner. That setup will replace a bunch of 5 year old office machines, and I'm looking forward to a pleasant relief on the energy bill.In conclusion:The Windows XP setup here works quite nicely. I have TOO MANY existing licenses for XP and I still do not see the light with Windows 7, and I'm not going to waste resources. I did a Test Installation with Windows 7 and it likewise feels responsive, even snappy with standard applications, Office, file transfer, browsing, etc. I bet under Linux it would perform equally or better.Slip-streaming the AHCI Driver into the Setup was tedious under XP, it took almost a day to accomplish, but now - this box is just flying. Enabling AHCI on this MoBo made a noticeable difference for disk access performance in this case.

plenty of power to play 1080p. On my build i have 2 gigs ram a spare hard drive in a Apex MI-100 4BAY Desktop Blk/Silver 250W ATX12V Mitx case running windows 7 and xbmc. the only problem i had was with the built in Ethernet card it kept freezing/hiccuping. I gave up and put in a usb wireless adapter that i was planing to use anyway. It runs and plays better than a ion build.

This is an excellent motherboard combo and would highly recommend it for its small form factor and small energy footprint and low temp properties.
