5Amazing.
By JJSpillane
It has a slender design, which fits into a standard ATX case. The connector layout is amazing, in my experience most Motherboards have the SATA headers placed in such a way that using the PCIe slot(s) with any modern graphics card covers most, or all, of your SATA2 headers, and sometimes even the SATA3 headers. There is more than enough room on the Motherboard for the infamously large Cooler Master Hyper 212+ (or EVO), and you will still be able to use RAM slot #0.PCIe 3.0/Ivybridge capability will be really helpful in the future.I did purchase the last one here on Amazon, and the restock looks like it will take 3-5 weeks, but if you can find this thing anywhere else, just go for it. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Quality product for a very nice price.

5Disappointed at first then very pleased.
By mrblank
I picked this board for several reason, one is looked better in my white case and it has some features I found interesting.I bought this with 750w PS, 8GB Kingston ram, Ivy Bridge I5 processor and couple other things. But, when I first received it I found would get the lights would go on 11 times and off then on fully on the 12. Had them the MB and Processor replaced. I think it was the processor since it did the same thing when I hooked up the new M/B with the processor. After replacing the Processor and M/B, I found I had no video. I hooked up a speaker and got 4 short beeps. I figured this was a bios issue. The one came with 1.2 and Ivy is only supported on 2.1. I looked that up. I submitted and trouble ticket to Asrock. They don't have a call center. Which sounds bad. But, I can understand why. They replied on both my first issue and on the 2nd with the bios. To make it short, I submitted my address and receipts and they provided me with a new bios in a couple days. If you want the Ivy and want to avoid the bios issue, go for a Z77. Cost more, but those work out of the box. You should upgrade those bios as well if need. What I lost with the Z68 over Z77:1) Can't hook up 3 monitors that is supported by my CPU. Dual, works fine. But I prefer the big display instead of several smaller ones. I also use a 3d TV so it'll use Intel's tru3d when I get a blueray.2) USB 3.0 is only on the back. No big deal, but I don't have any 3.0 devices. Also, the USB 3.0 controller is on the motherboard and not the processor. That is one of the major differences between Sandy and Ivy Bridge processors. Still have 2 ports anyways.Another disadvantage with this board is it can't SLI or Crossfire since there is only one PCI express slot. That didn't matter because I wasn't going to anyways. Its a pain to work and if I could afford a multiple GPU, I would have moved up to the better asrock boards that support that function. Also, the Virtu software they provide is great. I'd would recommend going to the Asrock site and downloading the latest drivers and Utilities once your LAN drivers are installed. What you need to do is to attach the video to your GPU card and install both the external drivers and the processors video drivers. Once they're running go into the bios and select On Board Video Card as primary. Shut the system down and move the video to cable to on board output. I use HDMI and took me a few minutes to get discovered. Now configure the virtu start up when the system boot. I actually upgraded the software by right clicking the icon and have them check for updates. Once install, click the application tab and configure which games are to be controlled by Virtu if they are not listed. The actual rendering is done by your High power gaming card and standard display is done by the on board card. Also, set the Virtu Icon to disappear after a few sec. Will I recommend? Yes, but make sure if you are using Ivy bridge you can get the bios flashed to 2.1. Which is what I found out the hard way. If you have an Sandy bridge processor you can use to flash it, then you can do that and then install the Ivy. Once I replaced the bios, I'm very happy with it. I do plan to get a better GPU and SSD to use the smart feature for temp and page files. The feature at great. I just wish they would provide more of the SATA cables.

5voted best value from t_-raders comparison of 8 z68s
By Jason G.
Hadn't considered this until having read techradar's 25sept11's review of 8 different z68 boards. This has worked well for me over a few weeks - no issues at all, with a intel i5-2500k.Important features for me are 6 sata ports (2 sata3), hdmi+dvi+vga, lucid virtu if I go discrete, control for numerous fans, the graphical bios is cool, and other favorably reviewed items as seen in review above._However_, for my application specifically, and also pending the release of ivy bridge processors in less than 2 months, I think I would have preferred erring on the side of a cheaper solution for the meantime. Have been particularly interested in what the g530/h61 boards could do - these can be had for about $110 together (also going Asrock), whereas my combo was about $320. Sure, i5 is much faster, but for this application, the g530 would have sufficed. Perhaps new motherboards natively supporting Ivy will have some non-backward features as well.I'll keep this review updated if encountering anything negative with the experience. Am surprised to see so few reviews on what seems to be the value leader.
